Is the Swiss Rail Pass good for Mt. Pilatus? We would like to go up by Cogwheel train and back by Gondola. Can tickets be bought for the next day at the train station? Is it better to buy separate trips up and down or round trip? What is the difference in the Silver and Golden trips?

    Hi jmaddox1,

Yes, the Swiss Travel Pass is valid for Mt. Pilatus.

    • Cableway/train from Kriens or Alpnachstad to Pilatus: free
    • Train to Lucerne or Alpnachstad: free
    • Bus from Lucerne to Kriens: free

There would be no need to buy separate trips – just show your pass if
requested on the trains etc. You may need to get a separate ticket to get
on the cableway (with a special bar code) instructions would be listed
at the cableway) and would be free of charge.

    – Take a look here for what other routes the pass covers. With the Swiss Travel Pass you can do either the Golden or Silver round trips – both routes are covered. They are explained on the Mt. Pilatus page.

    Regards,
    Lucas
