We are interested in visiting Mt. Rigi in May 2019. From the forum, we learned that we can buy Swiss Safer Day Pass to take Cogwheel train and Cable Car at Mt. Rigi.

    My questions are

Are there assigned seats for Mt. Rigi Cogwheel train and Cable Car ? If so, do we need to call ahead to make seat reservation?

If not, does it mean we might not be able to get on to the Cogwheel train or Cable Car, if there are too many people ahead of us?

Are there any other types of tickets that would allow us to secure seats in Cogwheel train or Cable Car at any specific time?

    Thanks

    Mike

Hello SafeBreeze and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

You mean the Saver Day Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass and bit.ly/2rkekat).

it is not possible to reserve seats for trains or cableways on Rigi. You won’t have any problems getting a seat in May which is not peak tourist season.

Indeed, reservations are not possible on almost all swiss mountain transports (and most trains in general). http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/reservations

For mountain trips, if it happens to be busy you will need to wait for the next train, or cable car to come and take you up the mountain – usually not long and as Rockoyster says especially not long in May.
