    Hi,

I’m planning a trip to the Switzerland ( 2 people including me), I’m planning for 3-4 days during February 2019 and following is my rough itinerary (will be covering France-Swiss-Italy)

Day 1 : Reach Lausanne from Paris via TGV Lyria and traveling further to Montreux . Will be exploring Montreux and near by places

Day2: From Montreux: Taking Golden Pass line to Interlaken and exploring Jungfraujoch , top of the Europe along with other local town (Suggestion if any ? Can I cover Mt. Pilatus or Titlis ?)

Day 3 : From Interlaken: Taking train from Interlaken to Brig and onboarding GEX to Chur.

Day4: From Chur: Taking Bernia -Tirano express to Tirano (Further to Milan, Italy)

I wanted to get suggestion/recommendation if the above plan looks good and what Train Pass should I buy. Please advice or if any suggestion or tips on above itinerary

    Thanks,

    Sonu

Hello Sonu and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Your day 2 is already very full. You can’t fit in those other mountain excursions on the same day. Use the SBB Timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) to plan your travel. If you are not familiar with using the timetable it will pay to first read the instructions on that page.

The Swiss Travel Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass) looks like a good fit for your itinerary but to be sure you should read “How to choose the best travel pass” (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass), download the handy spreadsheet calculator and do the math.

Whichever Pass you select you will still need reservations (not covered by any pass) for the Glacier and Bernina Express trains.

    Hi Sonu,

With such a short visit I’d consider skipping the Interlaken area and focus on Montreux and then Zermatt (to start the Glacier Express instead of Brig) and the panoramic trains. Just a thought if you aren’t set on Jungfraujoch: http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfraujoch

Use the timetable from Rockoyster and see what can work for you or not time-wise.

I agree with omitting the Jungfrau area.

I agree with Lucas – go to Zermatt instead. I always recommend anyway that Zermatt – Gornergrat (Matterhorn views) is a much better experience than Jungfraujoch.

The fare to Jungfraujoch is very expensive and there are many people not just me who slate Jungfraujoch as over-rated. Also the Jungfrau railway itself is mostly in tunnel whereas the Zermatt – Gornergrat trip is mostly in the open.

The mountains around Zermatt are higher than those in the Jungfrau group.

Also consider the Rochers de Naye from Montreux
