Hi, We (family of 4, 2 teenage boys (22,14)) are planning a trip to Paris, Switzerland and Italy. Here is my itinerary so far. I need some help/guidance with respect to:

    a) what can i cut or optimize travel to save a day?

    b) guidance on whether i should consider adding a day (not sure if i want to cuz its already hectic, plus not sure if I even can cuz the from and return air tickets are already purchased).

    c) does it look realistic to accomplish? any connections that stand out as risky to make?

    d) suggestions for passes.. 3 countries or swiss half-fare or swiss travel pass ?

    e) any comments for hotel stay locations? For example: should I stay in Zermatt or somewhere closer to efficiently tour the nearby area.

    f) anything else you see missing or wrong in my planning?

Thanks much in advance for your help and support.

Mountain transport near the Jungfrau – cableways – will all be running after startups as late as about June 1.

    This famous walk:

may be open, as winters have been warmer, leaving less snow in the Spring. Cannot predict, but a safe date for that trails is usually after June 15th; better- July.

    Hi Tahirdroid,

I highlighted the Swiss part of your trip in your first post to get a better overview.

Day 4: You don’t touch Lyon normally on your way from Paris to Zurich: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/france

Day 5: Titlis and Pilatus can be done in one day but you will need to live up to a well prepared schedule that day 🙂 If you leave early and don’t mind a long day it can certainly be done. The same applies to day 7. It might be more realistic to start day 6 early and visit the Schilthorn after arrival in Lauterbrunnen.

I don’t see other issues. You do move around a lot but if you are fine with that it is ok.

The 8-day Swiss Travel Pass looks like the best option for you: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass. To double check that, please see http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass.

    Thanks.

regd Lyon, I was referring to “Paris Gare De Lyon” the station where we get on the TGV Lyria …for Zurich. I got ur point on Zurich thanks.

I still need guidance on where I can shave off a day. Thanks

Ok, right, Paris Gare de Lyon makes sense 🙂 Which day to skip is really a personal preference. There’s already quite a lot in your plan, so you would need to skip activities too. You could skip Montreux and go from Interlaken to Zermatt direct, for example.
