First of all best wishes to full team of myswissalps for splendid job of guiding everybody. Below is my plan for Switzerland and need your advise for missing out things and better options , if any:

travelling persons: myself ( 58 yrs) my wife Neeta ( 55 yrs)

19th july : arrive zurich airport at 16.30 and take traing to Interlaken for base hotel ( hotel city oberland )

20th july : day trip to jungfrauch

Interlaken ost -grinderwald-kleinschedegg-jungfrauch-klein schedegg-lauterbrunen-wengen-then cable car to grinderwald via manlivhen-interlaken ost

21st july : local Interlaken and nearby place like Lake Thun , Lake brienz

I would love to cover these places by self drive car so that can stop at small town and greenery places. Is it advisable or better I use trains , boats since I will have swiss travel pass.

22nd july : Day trip to schilthorn , gimmewald, murren, trumbalbech falls, lauterbrunen valley. Pls advise correct route to cover all this in day trip . Is Harder Kulm comes in these places?

23rd july: I am open for your suggestion on where to use this day . ( Lucerne and mount titlis not interested as have been there before). since next day we are travelling back home , today we don’t want very long hectic day. 6-7 hour day max. I am open for self drive car day. pls suggest.

24th july: leave by 12 noon from INterlaken ost – zurich aiarport by train for back home flight.

    my further queries:

    1) according to above schedule which swiss travel pass is best . Either 8 days consequetive or 4 days flex? ( in flex pass can I use on any 2 consequetive days also.??)

    2) In above plan will I be covering anything on famous trains like Glacier express, Golden pass etc? otherwise can add this on 23rd july

    3) is it necessary to book any of above schedule trains in advance specially for 21-22-23 july since I don’t know the weather forecast.

    4) How to get cheapest and reliable mobile date for internet use for these 6 days?

    best regards

    Naresh

Hi Naresh and welcome to MySwissAlps!

You can visit any town in Switzerland with your Swiss Travel Pass – the same can’t be said by car travel so always best to take the train (especially if you are already getting the Swiss Travel Pass).

You can see how to get to Schilthorn here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/schilthorn/getti ngthere
Trummelbach falls, Gimmelwald and Lauterbrunnen valley are all “on the way” to Schilthorn (or you don’t have to go far out of your way to get there). Best to take a quick look at Google Maps and then use the Swiss railways timetable to plan out trips to these places during the day. https://www.myswissalp s.com/timetable

Perhaps on July 23 you can go to Montreux on the Golden Pass route?

    1. If you take the Swiss Travel Pass Flex you can choose any days to use it. https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisstravelpassf lex/howtouse
To know which pass is the best for your specific itinerary you need to plan out all trips you will make (train, bus, boat, cable car) and compare the prices for regular tickets to the rail pass price (and which routes/mountains are free or discounted). Once you have that information you can read our page here on how to choose the best rail pass. There is a spreadsheet there to help with the math. 🙂
    2. See my suggestion for July 23
    3. No except may the Golden Pass route if you do it. https://www.myswissalp s.com/goldenpass/packa ges

    Forget the car.

    Consider a Bernese Oberland Pass.

You would need to purchase ordinary tickets from Zurich Airport to/from Bern

In 2015, I spent a day much as you’ve got planned for 20 July. Good round trip with different options.

Same for the Schilthorn day. Amazing trip. Don’t overlook the tram that runs from Murren. Enjoy lunch at Schilthorn.

Consider evening trip to Harder Kulm and dinner at the top. Could be added to either your Jungfrau or Murren day.

A lovely day can be spent on both the lakes. You might get to ride one of both of the genuine paddle steamers. Many local train and bus options to add and make good round trips. They would pass many of the “small towns” or “greenery places” you speak of.

As usual, Lucas has provided some excellent advice. The resources ARE on this site or links thereto. Planning is half the fun.

    Enjoy your travels

    Hi Naresh,

Tough call. Both trips can be quite scenic: Golden Pass route to Montreux via Zweisimmen (https://www.myswissalp s.com/goldenpass/getti ngthere)

or to Zermatt if you go via Kandersteg, taking the Lötschberg line to Brig and then on to Zermatt.

I’d pick the town that you’d prefer to see!

Any of the online retailers listed on our site here will work for you: https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisstravelpass/ price All can send via email to print and all accept Visa normally.

    Hi,

I have planned 3 different days trips to jungfrauch, schilthorn , montreaux or zermat

I want to know if I can add Glacier3000 on any of these trips since I have no other extra days left.

Also if there will be snow to see or walk on glacier3000 during 20-23 july.

    thanks and best regards

The Glacier 3000 always has some snow there on the glacier.

It can be accessed from Gstaad by bus – so you could fit it in on your trip to Montreux. The timetable can be used (from my earlier post) to plan the trip.

    Hi Naresh,

It is a 5 minute walk or there abouts. You cross the street and take escalators or an elevator downstairs to the trains. There are a lot of signs for you to get there.

But you’ll find a map of Zurich airport here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/airports/zurich

    Hi,

You can read about the mountain trip on our page here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/brienzerrothorn
it describes the trip and how to get there.

You can find schedules using the timetable link from my first reply to you (June 7).

It is a nice trip if you have the time. 🙂
