Hello,

I have here the itinerary for my 4 days in Switzerland. I need help in deciding whether it would be best to use the Swiss Travel Pass over the Swiss Half Fare Card.

Day 1: Arrive in Zurich HB. Travel from Zurich to Luzern.

Day 2: Round trip to Mount Rigi.

Day 3: Round trip to Mount Pilatus.

Day 4: Travel from Luzern to Basel.

From my understanding after reading about the validity of the pass and after some calculations, I think it is more reasonable to buy the Travel Pass instead of the Half Fare Card since all the trips that I would need to make would be free. Can someone confirm this?

Also, my trip is very much focused in the Luzern area, can anyone recommend other things that I can put in my itinerary? Thank you very much!

Hello Shisham and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

I would get a 3-day Swiss Travel Pass and just buy a point to point ticket on day 1.

Pilatus (Kriens to Alpnachstad or vice verse) is discounted 50% with the Swiss travel Pass – not free.

For such a short itinerary you won’t save much if anything whichever pass you choose.
