We are landing in Rome and taking a train immediately to Florence (6 adults). One day round trip by rail from Milan to Lake Como by train (6 adults). Then 5 adults taking train from Milan to Lucerne. Day trip to Mt. Pilatus via boat, cogwheel train, and gondola for 5 adults. Can anyone recommend the best rail pass to buy to make all of these trips more affordable?

Hello Katzeye and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

We don’t really do Italy here but see www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/italy.

Have a look at www.myswissalps.com/eu railglobalpass if your travel in Switzerland is limited to what you describe.

You should read “How to choose the best travel pass” (www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass), download the handy spreadsheet calculator and do the math.

HI Katzeye,

As for Lucerne: it really depends on your plans there and how long you stay. If the Eurail pass is not enough, then the Tell-Pass could be an option there: www.myswissalps.com/te llpass. Rockoyster's links help you to compare options.

For things to do, hotel tips ans more, please see www.myswissalps.com/lu cerne.
