Day 2 – Luzern to Mt Rigi. We took the Ferry to Weggis. Went up the cogwheel train to the top of the mountain – Rigi Klum. It was cloudy so we could only see part of the land every so often. The excitement there was the hail stones – OMG they would fall in huge pieces !! and you could actually here them break against the rock. We decided to take the train back down, but on the way we saw the sun break and decided to get of the train. so glad we did that, we hiked down to Rigi Kaltbad– OMG we got to see the best views – on both sides of the mountain, it was amazing. no wonder it is called the Queen of the mountains, you can see the various mountain peaks, lakes, towns. The hike was not bad at all very straight forward with amazing views. Even though people say you can see the mountain in 1/2 day, we spent the whole day until we got back to Luzern.

Very easy to get to from Luzern, take the ferry boat right opposite the SSB train station. Get off at Weggis , if you want to spend more time on the mountain or get of at the other side of the mountain.

I will try to upload pictures 🙂

Glad the weather improved for you! The views from up there are truly wonderful.

If you went up in the cogwheel train after a boat ride, that would have been at Vitznau rather than Weggis 😉
