Hi, we are taking the train from Lucern to Lauterbrunnen for the day in June. We are using one of our 4 day flex passes for this day. My plan is (with any modifications from you) is as follows:

Arrive Lauterbrunnen 9.25 a.m. Take the cable car to Grutschalp (is this cable car included in the pass or is it extra?)

Take the train from Grutschalp to Murren (Would this train be included in our Pass also?)

Look around Murren, then take the cable car to Gimmelwald (included in Pass?) or walk it, suggestions please

Cable Car from Gimmelwald to Stechelberg (included in Pass?)

Walk from Stechelberg to Lauterbrunnen Bahnof. This way we can stop off at Trummelbach Falls and Staubbach Falls (any other falls you may suggest).

Catch the train from Lauterbrunnen back to Luzern at 19.32.

One more question…would we be pushing it to fit in going to Schilthorn and, if not, what part do we add it in and how do we go there, etc. Thank you once again for all your help.

    Hi Deni,

All the transport you mention is covered by the Swiss Travel Pass & the STP Flex.

You should easily be able to do that in a day including Schilthorn (if the weather looks good don;t miss it) and maybe have a peek at Trummelbach Falls which is a stop on the bus route from Stechelberg to Lauterbrunnen.

Also at Mürren you can take the funicular up to Allmendhubel if you feel you are travelling ahead of schedule.

You could even fit in a quick ride up to Wengen if you didn’t daudle or spend too much time hiking.

Rockoyster, you are such a wealth of information, thank you. Would you like to be our travel guide? lol.

Can you please tell me, if we were doing Schilthorn, where do we do it from. Definitely going to stop at Trummelbach Falls and Staubbach Falls. Thought we might walk from Stechelberg to Lauterbrunnen stopping off at the falls on the wall.

Where do we get the ride up to Wengen? Also if you had to choose only one after Schilthorn, the funicular up to Allmendhubel or Wengen?

    Thank you 🙂 🙂

You got a spare seat? 😎

Schilthorn Cable Car station is at the western end of Mürren.

    Train to Wengen departs Lauterbrunnen.

If choice between Wengen and Allmendhubel go Wengen. Fab views up the valley.

Don’t miss the Thrill Walk at Birg on way up or down from Schilthorn. schilthorn.ch/en/Info/ Birg_2677_m_._8783_ft# thrill_walk

It looks fabulous!! We are also going to do the Hammetschwand Lift from Luzern. Have you been on this before?

Do we see the Murrenbach Falls on this itinerary or is that a separate walk and, if so, is it worth the separate walk given the fact we are seeing the other 2. Thank you!

Haven’t been to Hammetschwand Lift. The Bürgenstock Funicular wasn’t running when I was there. Worth a look definately.

Mürrenbach Falls you will see between Stechelberg and Trummebach Falls.

    >> Lauterbrunnen for the day in June … stop off at Trummelbach Falls and Staubbach Falls (any other falls you may suggest) … Catch the train from Lauterbrunnen back to Luzern at 19.32

Trümmelbach Falls will close around 5pm in June, so make sure you allow sufficient time for this attraction.

    >> Also if you had to choose only one after Schilthorn, the funicular up to Allmendhubel or Wengen?

The funicular from Mürren to Allmendhubel is not operating between 9 April and 22 June 2018. Wengen would be my preferred option in any case.

    >> Do we see the Murrenbach Falls on this itinerary or is that a separate walk

You should be able to see the Mürrenbach Falls falling from the cliff top near the valley station of the Stechelberg cable car.
