We will be in France for 10 days in June. We are going to spend part of our trip based in Dijon and want to try to do a day trip to Switzerland. Our initial plan is Lausanne and do a Lake Geneva cruise. Is that the best way to spend one quick day? If so, are there shorted cruises on Lake Geneva than 4 hours? Is the Olympic Museum worth it? We will have our 17 and 19 year old daughters with us. Thanks!

Hi ChristaP13 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

The best way to spend 1 day in Switzerland really depends on what you and your family want to see in Switzerland. Lausanne (http://www.myswissalps.com/la usanne) and a Lake Cruise is one nice option for sure. There are shorter cruises than 4 hours yes. Read more here: http://www.myswissalps.com/bo atlakegeneva

I might normally recommend Lucerne as it has a lake and mountains to visit nearby (which is what draws most people to Switzerland) but it is a long trip from Dijon. I think Lausanne is the closest major town for you and it is still 2 hours one-way. http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable

    Possible but unusual.

However there are direct TGVs from Dijon to Lausanne, and you would take the metro from Lausanne station down to Ouchy landing stage to get a lake boat. You can easily do a short trip to Montreux and back
