I most fondly remember Swiss National Day for the evening gathering in a park in Meyrin (GE) which I went to most years because it fell in the UK school summer holidays . Not a cocktail, but a broth soup is what I remember, served in approx 500ml stone jugs, with the jugs decorated with the date and “Meyrin’ The 1969 issue is still in my 95 year old Dad’s kitchen!

Thanks for sharing your memories 1960man! How nice that your dad still has this old stone jug :-). Have you been attending August 1 celebrations in recent years as well?

    Not for some years.

I do remember being at a camp site in Mosen (LU) but that was nearly 30 years ago as well now. In recent years my August visits have been after mid-August as that is when camp sites start to get less full.
