    Hi everyone,

I have booked my air ticket from Singapore to Switzerland from 29-9th Dec. Is a 16 hours flight. To my first dismay I have learnt that the Schilthorn mountain would be closed for servicing. Initially i have booked 4 nights Hotel stays in Murren. Looks like i have to cancel the booking totally.

We intend to cover Geneve, Montreux, Zermatt, Murren, Lauterbrunnen and either Interlaken or Lucerne. If the mountains are all closed, my worst fear would be I need to pay $1000 to defer my departure date.

Last year We have covered Zurich, Interlaken, Lucerne and Bern.

    Appreciate your kind advice.

    best regards

    Angela

    Hi Awkh,

are your dates 02-09 December? It is never closed all of the mountains, do not worry. For example Jungfraujoch (http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfraujoch/gettingther e) is open all year round. The cable car from Mürren to Schilthorn does not operate from 11 November to 6 December 2019. This means, that you can still visit from 07 Dec: http://www.myswissalps.com/sc hilthorn/gettingthere. Also you can visit Grindelwald – First (http://www.myswissalps.com/gr indelwald) in the Jungfrau region.

At Zermatt the cable cars to Klein Matterhorn ( http://www.myswissalps.com/kl einmatterhorn/gettingt here) and Gornergrat (http://www.myswissalps.com/go rnergrat/gettingthere) operate all year round too.

I would suggest to visit Lucerne if you are already staying for 4 nights in Murren (http://www.myswissalps.com/mu rren). Lucerne is a very beautiful town, one of my favorites: http://www.myswissalps.com/lu cerne. From there you can also visit Pilatus (http://www.myswissalps.com/pi latus/gettingthere) and Titlis (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti tlis/gettingthere) .

So you should not cancel anything 🙂

    Hi Angela –

Adding to what Ildiko wrote –

Did she get the dates right? I would have guessed that you meant –

    29.11 to 9.12. ??

Just to be clear, Mürren is always accessible. Even if the cableways from Stechelberg are not running due to maintenance, access from Lauterbrunnen is available via Grütschalp. And, vice versa. Mürren is an actual town, so its inhabitants must have access all year round.

By the way, Forum rules request that you provide as much information as possible, in order to help us answer your questions completely.

    <<“Please provide enough information. For example: the question “What can I do in 7 days in Interlaken?” can be answered much better if you include some information about your interests, preferences, when you plan to travel, age of the travelers, etc.;

Spell location names correctly. There are many places in Switzerland with almost the same name, so you can easily confuse readers if you’re not spelling correctly;”>>

Your title was quite informative, but, I don’t recognize “Lutherbernan.”

And, I note that you use the word “cover.” I always wonder what that means…so, if you havespecific interests, that would help us.

If that was not in the Winter time, you might find the cold weather this time rather different from last time.

Hi Slowpoke! I agree, misspelled names can be confusing indeed. You don’t have to worry about thread titles though; they’re usually corrected by moderators if necessary :-).

    Hi Annika-

<<“You don’t have to worry about thread titles though”>>

I don’t. Unless they meet he criteria called out in the Rules:

<<“A clear thread title is more likely to get attention. For example: “How to find easy hiking trails near Interlaken?” is much better than “Info required”;”>>

Here is what I said about the title of this thread:

    <<“Your title was quite informative,”>>
