    Hi,

I will be in Switzerland from 24-31 Dec 2018 of which 24-26 and 31 Dec happen to be public holidays (or eve of public holidays). As such, where can I find the operating hours of the various tourist attractions during these days as the information is not readily available online, and do you have any recommendations for places which we can visit during this period. Also, would there be any special arrangement for public transportation such as early closure or road closure during this festive season? Lastly, what are the opening hours of supermarkets, local restaurants etc (in Zurich) during public holidays? FYI, we have purchased 8 days Swiss Travel Pass.

    Regards

    Shevonnne ANG

Hi Shevonnne ANG and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Generally speaking tourist attractions like museums and stores/supermarkets are closed on public holidays (same with Sundays quite often). Small restaurants and shops may close from around Dec.24th to Jan 2.

Your best bet for supermarkets are at the train stations as they should all be open on holidays.

The mountains (http://www.myswissalps.com/ac tivities/naturalsites/ mountains), if open in the winter, will also be open on holidays. The Swiss use holidays to go into the mountains to ski or snowshoe/hike etc.

Public transit schedules aren’t changed enough to notice for most tourists. You can use the Swiss railways timetable to plan out all your trips on any dates and find departure and duration details: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable
