Hello, We are traveling on May to celebrate our 25th anniversary and I hope is going to be spectacular ;-) We are arriving on Saturday in Geneva and traveling right away to Chur, is there a scenic train that we can take there? Sunday we are taking the Bernina express to Tirano and sleeping in Milano. Monday going to Interlaken but I would like to spend the day in Luzerne, what is the best/scenic way to get there? Wednesday going to Lausanne, is there a scenic train to ge there from Interlaken?

Thanks for your input,

Hello David and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Congratulations to you and Mrs David. 🥂

From Brig to Chur you can take the Glacier Express.

Why not take the Bernina Express Bus from Tirano to Lugano and overnight there rather than Milan.

From Lugano to Lucerne you can take the splendid Gotthard Panorama Express.

Follow the Golden Pass Line from Lucerne to Interlaken and from Interlaken to Montreux (much nicer than Lausanne) on the way to Lausanne.

You can search MySwissAlps for any of these scenic trains/trips for more details.

Use the Swiss Train Timetable ( metable) to plan your travel. If you haven’t used it before it will pay to read the instructions on that page before delving into the timetable.

You should also read “How to choose the best travel pass” ( ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass).

Further to my previous post here are the links for scenic trains:

Glacier Express ( acierexpress)

Bernina Express ( rninaexpress)

Gotthard Panorama Express ( tthardpanoramaexpress)

Golden Pass Line ( ldenpass)

If the timings of any of them don't suit you can follow the same route using regular trains and if necessary skip the steamer leg of the Gotthard Panorama route.

Reservations are required on all except the multi-train Golden Pass Line. We normally recommend reservations on the Golden Pass between Zweisimmen and Montreux but at the time you are travelling reservations are not possible due to a short bus trip around some construction work. Don't let that put you off. The ride from the mountains down to Lake Geneva is not to be missed if you have the time.
