    Dear All,

We family for 3 are ready to explore with following itinerary, need few suggestions

    Day 1

Arrival at Zurich Airport 16/3/2018 at 10.10 am and will head towards Lauterbrunnen by 11 – 12 am

Can we do any nearest places after reaching 2.30 to 3 noon? ( Plan B – Do rhinne Falls by keeping Luggage at the airport )

Is the Swiss Pass available at the airport & free for my son aged 12 ( websites mentioning free but while booking shows half price for him

    Day 2

Head early morning to Montreux for lake Geneva, Chillon Castle, Chocolate factory

Can we do that day Bern or Thun lake while returning? or is there any better places can be covered

    Day 3

Early morning to Jungfraujch top and while returning may be Wengen, Murren or Schilthon

    Day 4

Checking out for Lucern but will spend more day time if anything missed out near Lauterbrunnen. May be Grindelwald First

Evening Lucern Checking in the hotel and will spend some time to lake or Chapel bridge

    Day 5

Mount Titlis & Rigi or Pilatus

Is it possible to do any of two in a day ( which one best ) or any other options

Evening to spend in Old Town of Lucern

    Day 6

Bern at morning with Thun lake if we can not do on Montreux day ( day 2 )

Plan B – Explore more in Lucern or nearest ( Having in mind Engelberg as well )

    Day 7

Head towards Zurich and do City tour with Rhinne falls

Evening return Flight at 6.30 pm

Which place Chocolate factory is good?

    Thanks

    Raj

    Hi Raj,

Let’s take a look at your plans:

    1. Day 1 – If reaching Luzern by 3pm you could look at a boat cruise on lake Luzern. Alternatively, yes you could leave bags at Zurich airport and train out to the RheinFall first before Luzern.

Be sure to use the Swiss railways timetable to plan all the trips and see if the timings work for you.

If you are getting the Swiss Travel Pass for the adults then you can add on the free Swiss Family Card for your son (giving him free travel wherever he goes with you). They can be bought online before you leave home and printed out so you can just head straight for the train at the airport.

    2. Day 2 – This is a very busy day from Luzern. The most direct train will take almost 3 hours one-way and that is not on the Golden Pass route which you could take.

From what I understand you are staying in Luzern for the entire trip? I would split your time between 2 bases. Or perhaps just Interlaken or nearby as it is more central for your plans I think.

    3. Day 3 – Make sure the weather looks good at the top of Jungfraujoch before buying tickets!
    4. Day 5 – Yes, you could do two mountains in one day (check the timetable to be sure you are comfortable with the schedule). All 3 are great. I think Mt. Pilatus and Mt. Titlis are the most popular.

    Dear Lucas,

    Thanks for your inputs.

We do have two bases 3 nights Lauterbrunnen and 3 nights Lucern.

Is Montreux is worth which is on 2nd day? or we should spend more time in Lauterbrunnen, Murren, Wengen, Grindelwald etc. As we have two full day in hand and one day long trip of Montreux and second day for Jungfraujch then here will it be possible getting time for the above scenic places.

We are checking out on 19th from Lauterbrunnen and heading towards Lucern

    More suggestions please

    Thanks

    Raj

Montreux is a nice town to be sure. There is certainly lots to do around Lauterbrunnen but if you want a change of scenery from mountains to a nice lake in the french part of Switzerland it is worth the trip.

From Interlaken you can take the Golden Pass route to Montreux (via Zweisimmen) for a panoramic train trip.
