Can I assume any of the modes of transportation be it Mtn trains, gondolas, etc. and Mtn restaurants will take credit cards? Trying to decide how much cash to bring.

    Thanks!

    Mtn trains, gondolas etc.: yes.

Mtn restaurants: At touristic locations (near top station of gondola, etc.) yes, along hiking trails (buvette d’alpage / Bergwirtschaft / agriturismo): no.

    Hi Pkerr,

You’ll rarely need cash with a debit card, but it’s recommend to keep some cash handy for the exceptional places. With a credit card, smaller amounts can be an issue so you would then need cash too. Please also see http://www.myswissalps.com/sw issfranc.
