Our trip takes us from Zurich-----------Chur-----------St. Moritz. We will overnight in St. Moritz------------next day we were planning on taking a day trip to Tirano on the Bernini Express------------then back to St. Moritz on the same day.
I was wondering if we chose to stay overnight in Tirano could we take another train from Tirano to somewhere else to pick up the Glacier Express without missing important scenery
Welcome to the forum! It will help to tell us when your trip will be. Year/month, even days if you know.
This trip was suppose to be this Sept 2020 but that is not going to happen so we are thinking it will be the end of Aug-Sept 2021
you can read about the Glacier Express route details at www.myswissalps.com/glacierexpress/gettingthere. Each section has unique scenery, only the tunnels and the areas around Visp, Brig and Chur are maybe less beautiful.
How do you go from Chur to St Moritz? That is also part of the Glacier Express/Bernina Express route.
The route of the Bernina Express is described here: www.myswissalps.com/berninaexpress/gettingthere.
From Tirano you can continue your travel to Lugano via the Bernina bus. From Lugano you can travel like this: Lugano - Göschenen (Gotthard Panorama Express), Göschenen - Andermatt (cogwheel train), Andermatt - Zermatt (Glacier Express).
I hope this helps,

Go Zürich, Landquart, Klosters, Zernez, St Moritz to avoid doubling up on the Glacier Express route via Chur on your way to Zermatt.
Just take regular trains (no reservations required) for your day trip St Moritz - Tirano - St Moritz. No need to book the Bernina Express for that bit although you could do it once on the way south and enjoy the photo opportunity stop at Alp Grüm.
Victoria's right, you can choose which one you prefer, the Bernina Express/Glacier Express or the local trains. Read more about the differences between the panoramic trains and the local trains here: www.myswissalps.com/glacierexpress and www.myswissalps.com/berninaexpress. Look for the title like "Regular trains versus Glacier Express".
