    Hello,

I am new to this forum and have gone through several forums to plan my itinerary for our 10 nights 11 days trip during April 2019 first week. I would really like to get some feedback from travelers and people who have been there.

    Major Details

    -Date April 2019

    – Planning Stage

    – Traveling with parents {age 68} + 4 adults +1 kid {age 10}

-Walking is no issue but too much (avoid climbing or continuous walking)

    – A Relaxed Trip -Traveling from India

The idea is to see Switzerland with not too much physical activity daily. So, we need a mix and match trip to explore Switzerland. If something is a must visit and it has too much walking my parents would be more than happy to back out on that day and do something else while the others carry on.

Basically, I need help on the places to visit and the order /route to go about with it.

    Sightseeing all must-see places

We all are not fans of museums, but one or two must-see ones would be nice

We want a feel of the culture, food, and beauty of Switzerland

Would be more than happy to visit a place that is unique and not recommended by the normal tours. Something out of the blue

    Food is no issue veg/non-veg

    Budget moderate (above average)

Places I have researched and liked (additions are welcome). Also, please mention the route and tenure of stay

    Zurich (arrival and departure destination)

    Lucerne

    St Moritz

    Engelberg

    Ascona

Lauterbrunnen/Grindelwald (Advice: kindly suggest the better place to stay and explore)

    Interlaken

Bern (Advice: is it a must visit/should we skip it)

    Zermatt

    Gstaad

    Montreux

    Lausanne

Geneva (Advice: is it a must visit/should we skip it)

I have provided a lot of places in a short duration. I am aware of the same, but we are open to staying at one place (making it a base) and traveling to others places n day trip.

Thanking all of you in advance for your valuable suggestions.

Hi Hat9162 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

I think the main concern is to check out the mountains you want to visit: http://www.myswissalps.com/ac tivities/naturalsites/ mountains and see what are open and what aren’t. April is low season in Switzerland and some are closed due to maintenance work (between skiing and hiking seasons).

Here is a read about what to expect when visiting in April: http://www.myswissalps.com/be sttimetovisit

Zurich is a great town for museum visits, like the Landes Museum. I might stay there a night or two for the cultural/museum aspect if that is important for you.

Otherwise Lucerne is a good base as would be Interlaken or any town nearby in the Jungfrau region: http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfrauregion

You can use the Swiss railways timetable here: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable to plan out the trips from the towns you are stay in and other nearby towns or mountains.

Considering you want to travel a fair bit around the country during your 11 days, I’d highly recommend looking at the Swiss Travel Pass for 15 days (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass) for the adults (add on the free Swiss Family Card to allow the 10 year old to travel free everywhere with you- http://www.myswissalps.com/sw issfamilycard

For more details on what towns to stay at that will interest you look here: http://www.myswissalps.com/wh eretogo/towns

    Hi Hat9162,

We don’t create itineraries here, but you should be able to put together your own with the links I provided above (and reading through other forum posts about other members trips).

Once you have a rough itinerary yourself, feel free to post it here and we’d be happy to look at it and see if it all makes sense etc. 🙂
