Hello, I would like to know if there is any town where my child can play in snow at this time near zürich. I have a car and would not like to pay for a expensive cable car or something. We really just want to feel the snow. We have been to Engelberg but there is no snow there on the base of the mountain.

In Portugal you can go to the top of the mountain (“Serra da Estrela”) with a car, is there something similar here?

    Hi Newtonc,

You can try Davos but that’s 2 hours drive away. You can check the live cam here: http://www.davos.ch/en/davos-klosters/news/live-cams/livecams-davos-klosters/

This has been the warmest winter so far. Closer to Zurich, it’s close to impossible to find snow without taking a cable car or lifts up the mountains. I can think of Rigi, Flumserberg, Hoch Ybrig and Pizol. These are all accessible within 1 hour from Zurich.

Really? Even at the top? I would expect at this time of the year, it would be covered with snow.
