    HI,

We (family of four with two kids 15 and 7) intends to visit switzerland june 2020. Total trip duration will be 6 nights. Will come from Paris via train and will go to innsbruck via train. Route map that I thought of is

    1. Interlaken – Jungfrau ( 2 nights)

    2. Lucerne – Mt. Titlis ( 2 nights).

    3. In the remaining 2 nights want to cover Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen and come back as day trip/visit the town of gstaad and comeback / visit zermatt with matterhorn/visit Lauterbrunnen with murren.

    My doubts/concerns are

    1. What will be the best choice in point 3 considering that we are nature lovers and not adventurous in nature. Also we want to keep one waterfalls in our trip. Also advise where should we stay for these 2 nights.(we dont want to stay at zurich).

    2. What will be the convenient exit point from Switzerland for going to innsbruck.

    3. Which lake cruise will be better between lake thun and lake lucrene.

Hello Tukaikol, thank you for joining MySwissAlps! Let’s take a look at your questions.

    1. It’s very hard to tell which option is best for your last 2 nights, as that really depends on your and your travel party’s interests. If nature is most important to you, I’d personally choose between Lauterbrunnen-Mürren and Zermatt. But: you can make things even less complicated by prolonging your stay in the Interlaken/Jungfrau region. If you spend 4 nights there, you can easily make day trips to Lauterbrunnen, Mürren and even to Zermatt if you don’t mind a somehwat longer day. It’s pretty relaxed to keep your base towns limited to just 2 instead of 3 for a 6 day trip. The links below may be of help:

    2. That would be Zurich. The timetable I linked to will show all options from any town in Switzerland.

    3. Again, that’s hard to decide. Both offer a different experience. If you can afford it time and money wise, there’s nothing wrong with experiencing both!

Hello Tukaikol and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Seeing you have a lot of time to finalise your plans might I suggest a few things.

    1. Your point 3 has you rushing all over the country. A good way to map out an itinerary is to visualise it using the Swiss Travel Pass Area of Validity map ( PDF downloadable from http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity). Use the timetable on the SBB website (bit.ly/2HH1U7B) or the highly-recommended SBB Mobile app (bit.ly/2ICIUHi) to plan your travel, find fares* and buy tickets if required. If you are not familiar with using the timetable it will pay to first read the instructions on this page – http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable. *SBB website shows half-fare prices by default, mobile app allows you to nominate full or half-fare and is also smart enough to offer you the Saver Day Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass) if that offers the best fare. You should read “How to choose the best travel pass” (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass), download the handy spreadsheet calculator and do the math. The spreadsheet also includes links to all the available passes.

    2. Zurich.

    3. Luzern. Personal opinion only.

Thanks a lot to both Annika and Rockoyster. I am really happy that I have joined this forum.

    1. As advised if I decide to extend my stay at Interlaken then I can cover Lauterbrunnen-Mürren. I was thinking of staying at Murren..in order to enjoy natural beauty without much rush… is it advisable/day trip will be better.

    2. As told earlier I wanted to keep waterfalls in my trip…if I keep Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen then should I keep it at the end ...Means …Interlaken …Lucerne..rhine falls….innsbruk. Totally confused here. Please help.

    3. May be little silly question…If I am covering Jungfrau and titlis …can I leave Zermatt…seems to be same.

    Hi Tukaikol,

    1. Mürren is wonderful and you’ll be much closer to nature than in Interlaken. It is less central, so it’s matter of which priorities you have. You can compare here:

    2. Seems like the right order to do this, no problem.

    3. Zermatt is not the same, but with only 6 nights I think you are right to not try to see it all, as you will end up traveling most of your time instead of sightseeing.

I feel with 6 days you can concentrate 2 areas Lucerne and Interlaken. You can cover rheinfall from Lucerne. For connections to Innsbruck, you can visit trainline.eu or national railways website of Switzerland and Austria

There are enough activities to do for 3 days each in Interlaken and Lucerne. Pl visit my travel blog http://www.myswissalps.com/fo rum/topic/trip-report-switzerland-may-2017 and visit Switzerland and Swiss itinerary
