We are travelling to Switzerland in September and plan to purchase a Swiss Half Pass. The Half Pass is valid for 1 month from activation, does that mean we can not pre-book any of the trips as it would make the Half Pass expired by September (assuming the activation date is when we pre-book a September trip in advance, for example booking a trip during July for travel in September).

Hi , when you booking trips you only asked if you have SFC . When you order SHC you specify for what month you need it . So everything will be fine .

Hi Michael and welcome to MySwissAlps!

    Nbunim has it exactly.

You can specify when the Swiss Half Fare Card’s validity starts from. You can buy it online now: https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisshalffarecar d/price and select September 1 as your start date for example.

If you are buying tickets now, you can select you have the Swiss Half Fare Card to get the correct discount.

All that matters is that you have the Swiss Half Fare Card with you when asked to show your ticket on the train. You don’t need to have it before buying any tickets.
