Prices of excursion tickets online versus local

I want to understand whether there is any price difference in excursion tickets ( for eg. matterhorn or gornergrat) if bought online from swissrailways.com or while in Switzerland from a ticket shop

There should be little or no difference, especially if you pay in CHF when buying online. You'll have to compare the Swiss Railways prices with the prices on the website of each cableway/mountain train. For Gornergrat tickets, for example, online tickets are a bit cheaper: CHF 86 instead of CHF 90 if purchased when there.
