I’m staying up in the mountains – in Murren. Do you know if the Swiss Wifi work there?

Hi Tourgypsy,
I don’t think that would be an issue. Most hotels/rentals in Mürren also provide free internet access to guests.

Yes, the hotels do offer it. I will be renting an apartment for the month that does not – or at least it did not the previous two times I’ve been there. So I thought this might be a good option – as long as there is a signal. Logically, I guess, if the hotels have a signal so will my apartment. Thanks.

What is coverage like in underground train stations for the Travelers hotspot? Anybody know?

Hi Lungworm,
I’ve never used the Travelers Wifi before so I’m not too sure if it works underground. But at most train stations now you can connect to a free wifi and have free access for up to an hour. More details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/train/practical/internet.

Hi Tourgypsy,
Yes, this wifi works in all inhabited areas and most uninhabited areas, including mountain peaks. When I used it, it was often quicker than the hotel wifi. But whether that’s important depends on your applications. Using it outside of your hotel is the true value I’d say.

Hi Lungworm,
It works wherever a mobile phone works. I can’t think of a train station where the wifi would not work because of a blocked signal or something. Most stations are not underground by the way.

Hi Rgoppelt,
I think yes, I do not see any reason why would not be able to use it. It is a portable Wifi Router and according to the website a fully charged battery will last for about 10 to 12 hours of continuous use. And a USB wall-charger and a separate Micro-USB-cable is included. You can also charge the pocket wifi router with any USB power bank.

Dear Arno,
Is the promo only for the Swiss SIM card? I tried to rent a pocket wifi for Global use (our trip is to 11 European countries), but I did not see a box for Promo Code.
Thanks!

Hi BibiL,
I’ve tried it and I was able to add the coupon code also for the global wifi. You can write it in the Optionals & Coupons part, on the left side of the page, just under the car charger and power bank options.
Please let us know if you have found it,
Ildiko
