PPPl

In September we are hoping to travel from Geneva to Lake Garda. Please can you advise of the best route for this journey. Bus or train? and would it be best to buy a Swiss Pass - we will be in Lucerne area for 6 days and could use a pass then.

Hi Lancia,

You can enter your trip in the timetable. It will display all options to get there. You will need to enter an actual destination on the lake, e.g. "Desenzano del Garda", which is one of the towns there. It will be mostly by train, or perhaps a bus for the last leg.

A Swiss Pass is a product for Swiss residents only. The Swiss Travel Pass is for tourists. There is no 6 day version, but there is one for 8 days. You can find all details here: myswissalps.com/ swisstravelpass. Whether this is the best option for you depends on your exact plans (or day trips and transfers within Switzerland combined. Please see myswissalps.com/train/ ticketspasses/practica l/chooserailpass for help on how to pick a pass.

Thank you for your help. I think an 8 day Swiss Travel Pass Flex will suit us best and just buy tickets from somewhere on the border to Desenzano del Garda.

You're welcome Lancia! Be sure to buy your pass online as that's easier and cheaper than at a train station: myswissalps.com/swisst ravelpassflex/price. The border town will most probably be Domodossola. You can look for tickets here: myswissalps.com/traint ickets/italy/price. No need to get off the train at the border.
