For a ~1-week trek, do people come with their own lunches for every day of the week, or do they buy lunches in huts, or a mix of the 2? If buying, how much does it cost in general, and are people happy with what they get? Thanks!

    Hi Chauntelle,

I haven’t done and overnight or day long trek, but I think it is typical do mix the 2 lunch options, assuming you can plan to be at a hut around lunch time.

The food, from what I’ve heard is quite good. Basic, but filling and good quality certainly.
Perhaps another member can give you more details on that.

You can use the Swiss Alpen Club website to find contact details for all alpine huts if you want to contact a few to see what the options are (and make reservations for an overnight stay if needed).

    Hi Chauntelle,

Civilization is never very far away in Switzerland, so if you’re near a (small) village or tourist spot or some sort there will often be at least one restaurant. Some restaurants are only open for dinner however, and some open for lunch, e.g. from 12:00 to 14:00. So a late lunch in such a place can be a problem.
