My family and I (total 6 pax) are planning to spend 6 days in Switzerland this coming September for the first time!

Currently, our travel plans are as follows:

    1. Lucerne (2 nights) – with day trip to Mt. Rigi

    2. Interlaken (2 nights) – with day trips to Bernese Oberland & Grindelwald

    . Zermatt (1 night)

urrently we are contemplating on whether we should opt for combination of Swiss Rail Pass + hotel or should we opt for renting a car + renting a whole unit through airbnb.

    Appreciate your kind suggestions 🙂

Hi Pinwheel and welcome to MySwissalps!

I always recommend traveling in Switzerland by rail. In some circumstances a car can be beneficial and even economical for larger families. You can read about traveling by car vs. train in Switzerland here.

    Hi Pinwheel!

Those are very personal choices. We do recommend hotels over airbnb in general. Please read our thoughts about it here.

    Thanks Lucas & Annika,

We decided to take the public transport for the upcoming trip. Thanks for the links as well.
