I would recommend you Swiss Travel pass for 8 days https://shop.switzerla ndtravelcentre.com/#/e n/product/swissPass

It costs around 398 francs and also provides you discount on cable cars are mountain rails that are not run by SBB-CFF network. You can buy it over the SBB counter from Zurich airport and get details about any senior citizen discount from there (though I doubt there is any).

Do check the specific cable-car/mountain train websites like for matterhorn in zermatt gives 50% off with Swiss travel pass www.zermatt.ch/en/Lift s-pistes/Mountain-railway-tickets-timetables-and-prices

Hi Luxram22 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

There are no senior discounts on trains in Switzerland unfortunately.

I would lean to the Swiss Travel Pass. You can read about that rail pass here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisstravelpass & if you decide to buy the pass you can do so from one of the online companies here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisstravelpass/ price

If you buy it online you can have it emailed to you to print at home (and have an electronic back up to print again if needed).

To see what is covered by the Swiss Travel Pass, including which mountains in Zermatt or other areas are discounted look here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisstravelpass/ validity

The two main mountains in Zermatt are discounted by 50% with the Swiss Travel Pass (Gornergrat and Klein Matterhorn).

However, the only way to know which pass is the best for your specific itinerary, you need to plan out all trips you will make (train, bus, boat, cable car). Then compare the prices for regular tickets to the rail pass price (and which routes/mountains are free or discounted). Once you have that information you can read our page here on how to choose the best rail pass. There is a spreadsheet there to help with the math. :)
