    Hello Friends,

Leaving shortly for Switzerland. first week of Sept.. Last July we traveld Milan-Geneva- 3 days in interlaken then direct Zurich to fly home.. We had such a relaxing beautiful time we decided to to go again this year.. however a bit shorter..This year the itinerary is: “drum roll please”

Day 1 > Fly into Geneva arrive 8am. Stay one night

Day 2 > Mid day train direct Zermatt (already have accommodations)

Day 3 > No specific plans

Day 4 > No Specific plans

Day 5 > Late day train to Zurich

Day 6 > Day in Zurich

    Day 7 > Fly home

Can someone suggest witch rail pass would be best… for VIEW or reserved seating..?? swiss pass? I would also appreciate some suggestions for day 3 and 4 in Zermatt.. perhaps some hiking, para gliding or Glacier train? Yes I know its a short trip, we are in our late 50’s and just looking to relax in the beauty of the area… Thank you in advance for your advice

Hi av8r and welcome to MySwissAlps!

The rail pass you choose won’t have any bearing on your views or reserved seats (always extra but not really needed except on Glacier Express train or similar). http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass

Our spread sheet on “how to choose the best rail pass” will let you know for sure which one(s) is the best for your itinerary. I would guess the Swiss Travel Pass makes the most sense (8 days). http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass

It will cover your rail trips and give you discounts on mountain railways/cable ways in Zermatt: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity

Reservations on Glacier Express if you decide to do part of the trip (can’t do the whole trip and return to Zermatt on the same day) would be extra: http://www.myswissalps.com/gl acierexpress/packages

    Lucas, one more …

Is there a price advantage to buy the Swiss pass online from the US before we travel..

or would it be the same price to purchase at the station in Geneva?

    thanks,

    Scott

You generally save a few Swiss Francs, but it is really the convenience factor that makes buying online the best option.

You get it emailed to you almost instantly and then print at home and bring with you on the trip (no stopping at the airport to get in any lines). You can typically show train staff the pass on your phone from your email as well (but print a copy just in case is that is technically the rule).

You can see a list of retailers we recommend to buy online here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/price
