This 13 day tour from basel ending in Lucerne is run by raileurope for year 2020. It says it includes a 1st class Swiss Transfer Ticket Combi inclusive of 8 transfers and a Half fare combi card (rail pass).Could anyone explain what these passes mean? Do they cover only point to.point tickets or do they also cover transportation once you have reached a destination ? E.g. .in lucerne, does it include the boat trip on large lucerne, the aerial cable way, train to mt. rigi., cogwheel in zermatt?

Tour operators of train-based Switzerland tours usually issue you with a pass or half fare card that will be used whilst you are part of the group, but can be used ‘in between’ by you on ‘free’ or ‘rest’ days in an itinerary, if you want to ‘do your own thing’ on a free day.

For example, a tour might have a few days based in Brig. Day 1 might be your ‘official’ group visit to Zermatt, day 2 might be ‘free’ and day 3 might be a trip to Andermatt. On day 2 some tour participants might just stay in Brig to enjoy that town. You however may choose to go somewhere else for the day (eg Bern) or even to revisit Zermatt.
