Looking for rainy day ideas for Lauterbrunmen, Interlaken, Bern for this weekend. We are currently in Wengen and the weather has been perfect but the forecast for this weekend is rain. Tomorrow we had planned to do Trummelbach Falls and Harder Kulm and then travel on to Bern. I think we can still do the Falls in the rain but not Harder Kulm. Any ideas on things to do, museums etc.that don’t require good weather?

Bern is actually Switzerland’s most ‘mediaeval’ city. It famously has covered arcades in the main shopping streets. Central Bern with the musical clock tower and all the other attractions is fine for wet weather. The Bears may also still be active at the bear park

You could also visit the Einstein museum

As you say, falls are wet so seeing them in rain is not usually a problem.

In a similar vein, the Aareschlucht between Meiringen and Innertkirchen is a ‘wet’ gorge so not a bad destination for a rainy day.

    Hi Jenbhome,

I agree with 1960man. Rainy days make good excuses for exploring historical and medieval towns like Bern and Thun. You can probably combine both in one day. Bern has a charming old town. Thun has a castle that might be worth visiting.

    regards,

    Hi.

The Beatenberg Caves are worth a visit. You could take the ferry to Thun, explore the city, then visit the caves on the way back, although you do have to catch a bus from near the ferry wharf to the caves.

    Have Fun!
