Dear friends

I am planning a 5-night stay in Lausanne and I have just discovered the Regional Pass for Lake Geneva - which sounds like a good bargain given individual train tickets in the region. Nonetheless I have some questions I would like to sort out before buying it.

a. We will be arriving in Lausanne after taking the scenic route down from Zurich. Since we would have to change in Zweisimmen and Montreux anyway, would it be worthwhile getting only the ticket till Zweisimmen and using the pass for free/reduced travel Zweisimmen-Lausanne?

b. Is the Chocolate Train from Montreux free with the Regional Pass? If not, which options should I tick when booking the tickets, once I would have the Regional Pass? We would be 2 adults and 1 child.

Thanks, Neville

Welcome to MySwissAlps, Neville!

Let's have a look at your questions:

a. Yes, with a valid Regional Pass you can profit from discounts during your inboud trip. If you decide to take the Golden Pass line from Zurich and travel via Lucerne-Interlaken-Zweisimmen, discounts will begin as early as Interlaken. Please see the map at myswissalps.com/region alpasslakegeneva/valid ity. So you can buy regular tickets Zurich-Interlaken and either discounted tickets for the remaining leg to Montreux or, if you use a free travel day, no tickets at all for this leg.

b. The regular train ride to Broc (where the chocolate factory is) is fully covered on a free travel day, or discounted on one of the other days. So you can get there for free or at a reduced price. I'm not sure if there are any discounts for the Chocolate Train though. That would make sense, but it's not mentioned in the official price overview. I suggest you contact the MOB for information about this:

Thanks so much - will proceed to ask MOB then.
