Crans Montana is a mountain resort in its own right, but not far away on the opposite side of the Rhone Valley is Zermatt. To get to Zermatt take the bus (the railway is currently being rebuilt) from Montana to Sierre, then take the short trip on a Geneve – Brig SBB IR train Sierre – Visp, where you change into the Visp – Zermatt railway. Overall journey time is 2h 34 min

    Hi Kennylauder,

Sierre is on the direct train line between Brig and Geneva so if you’re interested in exploring nearby towns and cities, I would recommend day trips to Brig or Montreux. Sierre to Brig is about 25 mins train journey. In Brig, you can do a quick excursion to either Bettmerhorn or Eggishorn to view the Aletsch Glacier. Train from Sierre to Montreux takes about 1 hour but definitely worth the longer journey if you’re interested in scenic boat trips on Lake Geneva.

Hope this gives you more options for your trip.

    Regards,

    Anna
