We are considering a side trip to Meiringen and Reichenbach Falls the first week in October. Before we go, can anyone tell us if the cogwheel is still running, cost (if any) with our Swiss Rail Pass, and whether there is sufficient water coming over the falls this time of year to be worth the visit. Thank you.

    Hi Bobsie,

The Funicular is running until October 7. You can always check the Swiss railways timetable to see if you can get there: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable.

The funicular station is Reichenbachfall and you can find more details on the web page here: http://www.grimselwelt.ch/en/ transport-lift/reichenbachfall and offers no discount with the Swiss Travel Pass.

I’ve never been in the fall, but the spring is always the best to get the glacier melt and see more water coming down.

Thanks, Lucas. If it is anything like Trummelbach Falls this time of year (based on recent reviews), it may not have enough water flow to be worth seeing.
