Thanks a million for your always prompt responses.
i started this post with the intention of getting help to figure out the least amount of base changes.

I think the less bases you change and/or the less luggage you bring the better.
Do you feel there are too many base changes? If so, which ones can I condense to stay longer in one place?
I know I can combine 22 and 23 but I kept it that way in case anyone is tired after 8hrs on the previous day they can sleep in and we could start a little late. What is the latest time we could start to get both done on same day?
Can you possibly help with how to get to Venice? I had read somewhere that from Lugano it’s approx 4hrs but no other details were given. Once again THANK YOU for your selfless invaluable service. God Bless

Such as: St. Moritz, Zermatt and Interlaken. And make day trips where needed.
you can use the Swiss railways timetable to plan trips to Venice and see how to get there: https://www.myswissalp s.com/timetable

Decided against Venice, so keeping in mind to keep bases at a minimum, is it possible to make a day trip to Lugano from Zermatt or Interlaken?
Thank you very much
Removed userParticipant72625 posts26 July 2018 at 14:03:57 #891217It isn’t really possible no. You can use the timetable to find the train schedule options from those towns to Lugano and back. But it is about 4/5 hours one-way from either town.
It would be easier to visit from Lucerne (2 hours).
Removed userParticipant72625 posts26 July 2018 at 16:44:17 #891218Please help me, how do I minimize bases if I want to do Lugano and GEX full trip of 8hrs along with all the other places I listed in my tentative itinerary earlier. Can an overnight in St Mortiz be avoided and just stay in Zermatt?
Thanks a million
GunzelParticipant241 posts26 July 2018 at 19:42:08 #891219IHMO this is a classic case of trying to do too much in the time available.
Again IMHO a vacation/holiday in Switzerland should be an enjoyable and memorable experience rather than an endurance test.
Especially for people in the mature/senior age group.

To add in Lugano, it might be easiest to do it from Lucerne (2 hours if you take the fast route through the tunnel).
