I am leaving Bern train station at 13:39, arriving at Zweisemmen at 14:59 #4173. Train leaves Zweisemmen at 15:05 #2225 to Montreux. When I try to make a seat reservation for that train, I only see #2119, 2123, 2127, 2229. They don’t match up with my #2225 at 15:05. What is wrong? Is this a regular train that doesn’t need reservations? There seems to be few people and many open seats at that time and it doesn’t indicate MOB or panoramic views. This has always been unclear to me, although I have read everything that I’ve seen about it. Your help is needed!!!! Thanks so much.

    Hi Rita,

The 15:05 is a regular train.

You can make reservations for the Golden Pass Line (http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass) including seat selection at http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass/packages or bit.ly/2kaq6Rf. Click the “e” for English language top right of the page. (where it says “Sprachwahl: d i f e”). Then change the class of travel, date of travel and start/end points to suit. Reservations are not compulsory but are recommended on the Zweisimmen to Montreux leg (which is where the Panoramic and Belle Époque trains operate) during peak tourist season.

    Hi Rita,

you can check the timetable at http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable. To be sure to travel via the Golden Pass line, enter the via-stations Meiringen and Zweisimmen. Between Zweisimmen and Montreux, trains labeled IR or PE are the official Golden Pass trains. If you click on them they are specified as “MOB Belle Epoque” or “MOB Panoramic”.

See more about the route at http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass/gettingthere.

You can reserve your tickets and seats here: http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass/packages. As you see in Rockoyster’s answer, you do not need seat reservations, although reservations are recommended for some trains on the Montreux to Zweisimmen leg.

Here you’ll find a short explanation about regular trains versus Golden Pass trains: http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass

    I hope this helps.
