Reviews on 7-day tour “hiking the Swiss Alps”?

Hi All, I’m new to this site which I discovered researching a hiking trip next July. I am attracted to the sample itinerary – 7-day tour “Hiking the Swiss Alps”. I haven’t been to Switzerland before and although we have done lots of walking in Australia and NZ, we haven’t hiked in Europe. I am a bit nervous about organising ourselves!

I wondered if anyone had done the suggested itinerary, and had any suggestions or feedback? I couldn’t see how to search the trip reports. The hikes are shorter than I was expecting for a hiking holiday. I’d like some longer ones as well – although not more than moderate difficulty; and that would be easy to follow. Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted!

I also wondered about whether Pontresina would be a better base than St Moritz, for travellers who prefer smaller less touristy places?

    Cheers and thanks

    Catherine

We are going at the end of July to do something similar by ourselves.

If you didn’t want to do it yourself, or go by yourself, another possibility is HF Holidays in the UK. I haven’t travelled with them but they look interesting and have good reviews on Trip Advisor. I like the idea of travelling with like minded people.

I think you will be fine doing it yourself in July.

Hi CatherineR and welcome to MySwissAlps!

You can use the search box on the top right of our website to search through all forums. Terms like week-long or multi day hikes should bring some results back for you. Was that what you are looking for? Or rather 4-5 hour hikes instead of 2?

We do mostly list shorter hikes on the website here, 1-5 hours typically which are the more popular hikes for people visiting Switzerland. There are a few websites you can check out for help on longer, multi-day hikes though and some members do have personal knowledge on the topic.

    1. For general hiking tips and a list of all hikes we do describe on the website, look here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/hiking – you can narrow the list down by region as well

St, Moritz (https://www.myswissalp s.com/stmoritz) is a lovely town but Pontresina may be more what you are looking for. We had a similar topic come up the other day here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/forum/topic/what -town-to-stay-in-graubunden
