The Swiss Travel Pass covers local transport in Zürich and Luzern. The bus driver will usually not expect you to show your pass (and in fact you can usually board through middle or rear doors) but it wouldn’t hurt to have your pass handy so you can show it on request without holding up any people behind you in the queue 😉
