Hi there! My husband and I will be taking a road trip from Hamburg, Germany with our 75 lb. Boxer dog, Bear. We have all the necessary paperwork etc. and would like some insight from other “Road-trippers-with-Dog” people on places to VISIT & STAY. We will start our CH excursion in Zurich and would love to drive the Alpine passes and of course, take in all the natural beauty that CH has to offer. Ideally, a swim in a lake would make Bear very happy. Any and all ideas are welcomed!! Thank You 🙂

Hi ILoveBearDog and welcome to MySwissAlps!

I can’t say I have any experience traveling with a dog, but I can give you some advice and information on driving in Switzerland. I’d first recommend looking at our car section here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/car which should give you everything you need on a practical level. There is also a page on traffic information, with good links to the mountain passes available and their current conditions. https://www.myswissalp s.com/car/trafficinfo

When and for how long will you be in Switzerland? A good area you might like if you and Bear also want to do some mountain hiking is the Jungfrau region. https://www.myswissalp s.com/jungfrauregion which also features small lakes, like Bachalpsee which can be hiked to: https://www.myswissalp s.com/hiking/bachsee & bigger lakes, like Lake Thun and Lake Brienz.
