I am landing in Rome Leonard de Vinci airport on 30th June I will visit Rome in one day and would like to stay in Paris for 3 days and 5 days in Switzerland. My return flight on 10th July fromZurich. Which is the best way to travel from Rome? To Paris first or Switzerland? I wish to visit Geneva Montreax Interlaken Lucern. My plan to see Geneva lake, Jaungfrau, St. Morris Mt Pilatus Mt Titlis, Glacier, chocolate factory. Please suggest me best train route and places to stay. Can I base in Lucern or Engielberg and explore.

    thanks in advance.

Hi Megan226 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Trains from Rome to Paris will travel via Geneva or Zurich. I would do the Swiss part of your trip first, then Paris and then the high-speed train from Paris back to Zurich for your return flight.

I would probably do two base towns in Switzerland for your itinerary. First, Montreux to visit Lake Geneva, St.Maurice, and the Chocolate factory.

Then Luzern to see Mt. Pilatus, Mt. Titlis and the Jungfraujoch (though this last mountain is a long trip from Luzern).

From Luzern you cant ravel to Paris via Basel before returning to Zurich.

Have you looked at Swiss rail passes for your trip? I would look at the Swiss Travel Pass and then point to point tickets from Rome to the Swiss border (Domodossola) and Basel to Paris.

    Lucas.

Trains would be the most convenient yes. There is no airport in Montreux and I would pick a train over a car for travel in Italy or Switzerland.

Yes, from Luzern you will change trains in Basel as you head to Paris. You can search train timetables here.
