I am buying a Swiss Travel Pass for 8 consecutive days but I will need 9 days covered so I am thinking of buying a Saver Day Pass without 1/2 fare card for the first day or the last day. We are taking the Bernina Express the first day (I already have the reservation) and the last day we will be going up Grindelwald First and then be heading by train to Zurich from Grindelwald.

I understand the Saver Day Pass covers the Bernina Express and I believe I need to buy a Junior Travelcard for my 13 year old. Is the correct?

Since the Bernina Express is on a weekend, I may not get the Saver Day Pass at a good price so I might have to buy the Saver Day Pass for my last day. Does it give the 50% discount on the Grindelwald First even if I don’t have a 1/2 fare cared?

    Thank you for your reply!

    Hi Kevin,

    Yes.

    No, unfortunately not.

With a very few exceptions, the Saver Day Pass is not valid on mountain transport, which includes the gondola from Grindelwald to First. So you would pay full fare.
