    Hi MySwissAlps Members, I watched a lovely video about the family coaches that are available on some of the SBB trains:

    St. Gallen–Zurich HB–Bern–Geneva Airport

    Romanshorn–Zurich HB–Bern–Brig

    Basel SBB–Bern–Brig

    Basel SBB–Bern–Interlaken Ost

    Basel SBB–Zurich HB–Chur

    I’m trying to figure out if any of the routes we’re taking will have this family coach (a LIFESAVER with toddler really!) Could anyone help this Mom out?

    Zurich Flughafen Airport -> Bern

    Bern -> Gstaad

    Gstaad ->Lauterbrunnen

    Lauterbrunnen ->Lucerne

    Lucerne->Zurich

    Thanks so much!

    Hi mrsl,

    You can check the train routes on the SBB timetable here: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable

    Trains with an FZ on the legend have a family zone (you need to click on each train departure to expand the menu and see the legend.

    Zurich Flughafen Airport -> Bern

    Bern -> Gstaad

    Gstaad ->Lauterbrunnen

    Lauterbrunnen ->Lucerne

    Lucerne->Zurich

    Only Zurich Flughafen – Bern and Luzern – Zurich are SBB inter-city routes, other routes you mention aren’t SBB trains so won’t have the family coach that you have seen a video of.

    According to your list you won’t be using the longer distance SBB services so you will have limited opportunity to take advantage of the family coaches.

    Nevertheless:

    For Zurich Flughafen – Bern most of the IC trains have the family coach

    Here is the PDF for Zurich – Luzern. Most (but not all) trains on that line are listed as ‘FA’ which stands for ‘Familien abteil’ ie family section (zone) – although the journey only takes 40 minutes
