I will be purchasing half fare cards for my husband and myself. I have the SBB Mobile app. When buying tickets, is it possible to buy for both of us in one transaction, or does he have to buy his own on his phone using the app? Also, I know you say it is not necessary to purchase in advance, but he thinks we should. Please share your thought related to our primary trips:

Saturday, September 11 – Zurich to Wengen

Wednesday, September 15 – Wengen to Como

Sunday, September 19 – Como to Lucerne

Also, if anyone has experienced the document check traveling into Italy, please share. I am curious about the process, and I know we need test results to enter Italy. Thank you for all the great advice on this site; we are confident about so many aspects of our trip due to your updates.

Hi Marjie,

Yes, it’s possible to buy train tickets for two using the SBB mobile app from the same device. First you need to set up a profile and simply add the name of the passengers you are travelling with. It is also possible to buy the tickets in advance. The mobile tickets will be stored in the app and all you need to do is show the QR code when checked.

As far as I know, you are permitted to enter Italy if you are fully vaccinated or can show proof of negative PCR tests. However these rules are always changing and we advise checking regularly with the authorities for updates. • You can get your Swiss Half Fare Cards through any of the retailers at http://www.myswissalps.com/swisshalffarecard/price.
• Tickets don’t have to be bought long in advance, as long as you have done so before you board the train.
• Some types of tickets have limited availability, such as Supersaver tickets. It’s wise to check availability in advance and then purchase if you find a good deal. • On days with lots of travel, a discounted Saver Day Pass can be economical. These passes need to be ordered in advance. In general: the earlier you buy them, the cheaper they are. You’ll be making a few long journeys, so it’s definitely worth checking if a Saver Day Pass is cheaper than regular 50% discounted tickets.
