Having done the trip up Gornergrat which was fabulous we are looking to spend a day to involve a scenic drive and not too strenuous walk for two oldies and not the fittest possibly something like the walk we did in Lauterbrunnen last week in the Obrland Lauterbrunnen but here in Valais where we now are (Grachen) near St Niklaus. We intend to visit Lake Geneva area Thursday or Friday using train and bus so hopefully tomorrow Wednesday do something in the car and as I say a doable walk (I avoid the word hike). We are looking possibly Mattmark but if there is anything special we do not know about that we could cope with would love to hear. One thing due to my fear of heights I do not do cable cars, hence Gornergrat yesterday not Klein Matterhorn which our son did…. he loved it.

The second link Hohtschchuggo sounds interesting as it is local but the mention of a 15 minute steep descent worries me a little as I do not cope well with steep uneven ground due to my poor sense of balance. If it is smooth ground then not a problem. Will check some maps and try to get a better idea.
It’s a forest trail so not perfectly smooth I’m afraid. It’s been a long time since I did that walk so you could check with the tourist office if they have more details, or alternatives.
Yes was planning on popping in there shortly. Going for a walk into the village again soon last time we were in was Sunday when of course all was closed apart from a bar overlooking the valley which lured us in. Still actually considering Mattmark my husband fancies a drive.
