Is the cogwheel train to Schnygie Platte in operation this summer/fall? I had read somewhere that one of its trains was down for repairs and wondered if this is its only cogwheel train, or if there are others as well. Thank you in advance for the information.

Operating completely as normal. Like all railways the SPB has a fleet of trains available – one out of service won’t make any difference.

It doesn’t run after October (it is always closed October – May)

The SPB is unique – a wonderful experience . It retains in daily service small box shaped locomotives some built 105 years ago. They push ancient wooden seated open sided carriages up the mountain at a wonderfully ’19th century’ sedate pace. A complete contrast to mountain railways using modernised fleets such as Jungfrau and Gornergrat

I just remembered that some of the operating engines were built in 1910 so are 109 years old this year!
