    Hi!

Referring to the closed thread http://www.myswissalps.com/fo rum/topic/golden-pass-line-buy-ticket-online

We plan to take Interlaken OST Montreux Golden Pass Line. This will require us to change the trains at Zweisimmen. The plan is to take Train#4065 at 09:08 from Interlaken OST and then connectingTrain#D3115 from Zweisimmen at 10:25. This has Panaroma Coach.

We will have Swiss Travel Pass, which means we do not need to buy train tickets. But we would like to make seat reservations on #D3115 1st Class. We are looking at webpage http://www.goldenpassline.ch/ en/reservation-procedure-for-the-goldenpass-line/ for making seat reservations. The price is CHF 8 per seat.

    Questions:

    1. We would have 2nd class Swiss Travel Pass. This obviously won’t be valid for 1st class travel on #D3115. Is an upgrade possible to 1st class only for #D3115 possible? Cost? Where and how?

    2. The webpage http://www.goldenpassline.ch/ en/goldenpass-panoramic-2/ mentions “One of the two types of panoramic trains offers a very special attraction, eight VIP seats situated at the front of the train. The view from here is even more beautiful than the one that the driver has, as he has to keep an eye on the railway track”. While looking to reserve seats on #D3115, I did not see any option of VIP seats – Just 1st and 2nd class. How can we know, which trains (timing?) will have these VIP seats? and where can these be reserved?

    Many thanks!

    Pranav

    Hi Pranav,

    1. You can go to any staffed train station in Switzerland and buy an upgrade ticket for Zweisimmen to Montreux.

    2. The 10:25 does not seem to have VIP seats. The 12:25 train does have them. You can go to the Route tab of our Golden Pass page. Visit the link under “More on other websites” and download the detailed timetable from there. The footnotes show details about VIP seats and a lot of other stuff. To book the VIP seats, go to the Tickets tab of our Golden Pass page and click the link at the bottom of the page. You seem to have found that one already.

    Hi Arno,

Any ballpark idea on the cost of upgrade for per person? Would be important to know before reserving the seats in 1st class or VIP. Also, kids travelbfree with our 2 swiss travel pass. Would an upgrade be free for kids as well?

    Thanks

    Pranav

    Hi Pranav,

The upgrade cost CHF 12.50 per adult. The kids don’t need an upgrade as they travel for free anyway with the Swiss Family Card.

    Hi Gaurav,

What date are you looking for? It will state on the timetable if it is a panoramic train (MOB panoramic will be the panoramic train that has VIP seats).

You can use the Golden Pass website here to make reservations (it must be in 1st class and the layout image will show seats 8 facing forward at the front of the 1st carriage).
