    Hi,

Anyone know if these are even bookable for seat reservations?

We have our first class pass for Switzerland and need to reserve seats on

    EC16 Arth-Goldau to Zurich @ 14:13

    TGV9222 Zurich to Basel @ 13:34

I’ve logged into the sbb website but looking at various dates in the first week of April all say no reservation possible.

Are they even bookable or do we not need to worry?

Holding off booking one journey in Italy as just read that the tickets can’t be altered! and we have to get from Tirano to Lugano by train and only have a few minutes to connect between stations in Tirano. But pointless buying tickets if the train in is late and we miss the train.

    So not getting very far!

    Hi,

Sounds like a nice trip you have planned!

You don’t really need seat reservations on trains in Switzerland, specially since you’re travelling in first class and at the times you have mentioned (you would only need reservations for panoramic trains which these aren’t).

Please check our page on seat reservations for more information: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/reservations/howto use

For the Italian connection, please check our section on travel from Italy: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/italy

Good luck in planning your trip!

    Maria.

Is the Bernina Express Bus not running on the day you want to get from Tirano to Lugano? It runs Thursday to Sunday in April.

It’s unlikely the Swiss train will be late arriving. More likely the Italian one will be late leaving! 😉

    Thanks.

Yes it is running, but the idea of sitting on a bus for a couple hours or so is not my idea of fun!

I imagine it will be very uncomfortable.

At least on the train you can stretch your legs.

We have around 13 minutes I think to connect for the train and the bus does not leave for an hour or so.

The bus is quite exciting (at least once you reach the narrow winding streets from Lake Como onwards) if you manage to get the front row seats. The stretch from Tirano to Lake Como is pretty boring.

    Just to confirm….

Getting the EC20 – Monza to Chiasso on the border, this requires seat reservations in First.

Then staying on the train to Lugano.

Do we not need seat reservations once we get into Switzerland?
