We have planned a 5 day trip in Switzerland in May 2018. What is the best rail pass for this trip traveling 1st class?

    Day 1 Arrive in Zurich

    Day 2 In Zurich

Day 3 Travel by train Zurich to Zermatt.

Day 4 Travel by train Zermatt to St Moritz (Glacier Express)

Day 5 Travel from St Moritz to Tirano (Bernina Express)

    Thanks for any advice.

Hi JohnWM and welcome to MySwissAlps!

We have an information page on how to choose the best rail pass here. It will help you do the math, which is the only way to know what the most economical option is for your specific plans.

That being said, The Swiss Travel Pass (4 days) is probably your best bet. It is very inexpensive to take a train from Zurich airport to Zurich so use it for day 2-5.

You will need to buy mandatory seat reservations on the Glacier Express and Bernina Express but all other trips you mention will be fully covered. For more details on what is fully or partially covered on the Swiss Travel Pass click here.
