Hello, we’re a couple in mid-30s traveling with a 2 year old to Paris/Switzerland in first half of September. We enjoy a diverse set of activities (lakes, mountains, scenic views, boat rides/cruises, easy hikes, monuments, etc.), and try to have as many unique experiences as possible, though nothing too adventurous that may not be safe with the baby.

Based on lot of helpful information on the forum, I compile a high level itinerary as below. I understand this some of this may be too aggressive to cover in a single day. Generally we plan for a full day but leave a few activities if we feel exhausted. Also understand weather may be a big factor in September which may require to swap some activities. Please share any feedback on the below itinerary.

Also please advise which SIM card would provide the best connectivity in the region for internet access. Thanks!

Day 1 – Arrive in Paris from US

    Day 2, 3 – Paris Local Sightseeing

Day 4 – TGV from Paris to Lucerne, Check In, Chapel Bridge

Day 5 – Mt Pilatus (Golden Round Trip), Lake Lucerne Cruise, Lion Monument, Old Town

Day 6 – Lucerne to Wengen, Check In, then Wengen > Grutschalp (cable) > Winteregg (walk) > Murren (train) > Allmendhubel (funicular). Spend time in Flower Park playground. Option 1 to go via Birg and the Schilthorn and back to Wengen via Murren. Option 2 to Murren > Gimmelwald (walk) > Stechelberg (cable) > Trummelbach Falls (bus) > Wengen (bus)

Day 7 – Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald. Either take the valley train or the Grindelwald/Mannlichen gondola to get back to Wengen

Day 8 – Harder Kulm (via BOB Berner Oberland Bahn), Lake Brienz cruise, Lake Thun cruise. Train to Zurich. Check In

Day 9 – Rhine Falls, Limmat River, Lake Zurich, Lindt Chocolate Tour

Day 10 – Flight back to US

    Hi toofan,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

Thanks for sharing your itinerary. For the most part it is doable. However when you are travelling with a 2-year do take note that some places are not really safe for small children. For instance at Trummelbach Falls, children under 4 years old are not allowed due to safety reasons. Also, the trip to Jungfraujoch might cause altitude sickness. So be sure to get advice from your health practitioner beforehand.

I’ve included links in your post so you can easily get info about each destination on your itinerary.

Regarding the best SIM card for your trip, this link might help: http://www.myswissalps.com/simcard

    Regards,

Thanks Anna, appreciate the feedback. Given the age requirements at Trummelbach, I’ll skip it and do Option 1 (Birg and the Schilthorn) instead.
