Good day everyone! I would like to ask if I should avail the Swiss travel pass or P2P. We will spend two nights in Lucerne and two nights in Zermatt. I have four children 14 yo 12 yo 11 yo and 4 yo. Does the Swiss travel pass cover the two cities we will visit? Thank you!

Hi Bamsy97 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

First off, P2P is….Place to Place?

The Swiss Travel Pass covers virtually every route in Switzerland (Most mountain attractions like Gornergrat in Zermatt is discounted 50% rather than fully covered however).

If you have the Swiss Travel Pass you can get the free Swiss Family Card to cover the oldest 3 kids (the 4 year old is free all the time).

It is probably worth the cost but it depends on how many trains, boats etc. you plan on taking while you are in the country.

Thank you Lucas! I am planning to buy it online. Should I buy in advance or when we reach Switzerland? Thank you.

    Hi Bamsy97,

It would be simpler and easier to buy online (check here). You can have it emailed to you (within 1 to 3 business days).

Once printed out you can just hop on any train as soon as you arrive in Switzerland – no need to stand in lines to buy one at the airport or train station for example. You will also then have an electronic back-up in case you lose the ticket.

    Regards,
    Lucas
