We are planning a day trip from Spiez to Stresa in Italy in August and have the Swiss Travel Pass, I understand the Swiss part of the travel is free with the STP but how does this work in reality with a direct train, when we purchase tickets in Spiez do they take of the Swiss part?

Hello Stevenshowle,

The train is direct but stops in Domodossola, so you simply have to hold two tickets, the Swiss Travel Pass for the journey up to Domodossola and then a separate ticket Domodossola – Stresa.
You remain seated for the whole journey on the same train and show your tickets upon request:
